CHESAPEAKE, VA, January 21, 2008 -- Dr. Margaret Gaglione of the medical weight-loss medical clinic Tidewater Bariatrics in Chesapeake received the prestigious James J. Leonard Award for Excellence in Teaching Internal Medicine from The Department of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md.
The award recognized Dr. Gaglione's "commitment to education, devotion to patient care and dedication to the mission of training our medical officers" at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, where she continues to practice on a limited basis. It also commended the doctor for making "a vital contribution of the success of the clinical training program for Internal Medicine."

public health professions' education and research.

Dr. Gaglione is the founder and medical director of Tidewater Bariatrics, which specializes in the non-surgical medical treatment of overweight and obese patients.
